21 Day Fix Approved Chocolate Almond Butter Mug Cake - Paleo Approved Too!


  1. This recipe is heaven on earth, especially if you're a 21 Day Fixer! 
  2. 21 Day Fix AND Paleo friendly! I've seen a lot of recipes similar to this one with peanut butter, which I love, but since I follow a Paleo diet, PB is a no-no. I use almond butter instead, and I've also used cashew butter, which is also delish in this cake!

  1. 1 Scoop (or 1 packet) Vegan Chocolate Shakeology® (or regular if that's what you already have)
  1. 1/4tsp Baking powder
  1. Pinch of sea salt
  1. 1T Unsweetened cocoa powder
  1. 1 Egg white
  1. 1tsp honey
  1. 5T Unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  1. 1-2tsp almond butter (or cashew butter)

Instructions

  1. Spray mug with coconut oil
  2. In a small bowl, combine Shakeology, baking powder, sea salt, and cocoa powder
  3. Add egg white, honey, and almond milk -Stir until combined
  4. Add half of the batter to the bottom of the mug
  5. Drop 1 teaspoon of almond butter in center of batter, then add remaining batter to the mug
  6. Microwave for about 1 minute 30 seconds - note that microwave times will vary! 
  7. Remove from microwave and allow to cool in mug for 3-5 minutes
  8. Remove from mug or eat directly from it! 
  9. Drizzle more nut butter of choice or top with sprinkle of vanilla shakeology

5 Tips to Stay Healthy Through the Holidays



You don't have to fall completely off the health & fitness wagon just because it's the holiday season! Sure, it's a time for celebrating and indulging, but you can still stay on track and feel great! Just follow my 5 tips for having a healthy holidays season:

1. Plan ahead - Plan your meals for the week, including weekends. This is where we usually fall off, especially when our calendars are overflowing with holiday parties!
2. Choose your splurges - Know ahead of time when cheats are most likely going to happen: at work, holiday parties, pizza night at home, etc. and add in extra cardio or a brisk walk that day.
3. Eat before you leave - Eat a healthy meal of protein and veggies first - fill up with the good stuff at home before attending a holiday event. You won't be hungry and will be less likely to over-indulge or over-graze on fatty foods.
4. Don't skip workouts - If your schedule fills up, get mini workouts in or take a walk on a break or before leaving for an event.
5. Join an accountability group - Support and motivation from a group of individuals all on the same journey with healthy goals will help you stay one track, plug in especially during the holidays when it's the easiest time of year to stray from health & fitness goals!

Chocolate Covered Pineapple Shakeology Recipe


Just getting a little tropical over here on this hot summer day! 
I decided to throw something fruity and tropical in my shake today. Over here just savoring these last HOT summer California days! LOVED IT and had to share. :)

Chocolate Covered Pineapple 
Shakeology Recipe



Ingredients:

🍍10oz. water or coconut milk
🍍1 scoop of chocolate or vegan chocolate Shakeology
🍍1/2 cup frozen pineapple
🍍1tsp. almond butter (optional)
🍍1/4-1/2 frozen banana
🍍Ice

Strawberry Kiwi Shakeology



Looking for a refreshing and healthy shake recipe? Here it it! A perfect meal-replacement smoothie for the warm weather! Add immune-boosting vitamin C to your Shakeology with the tangy flavor of kiwi. One serving of kiwi has more than two times the recommended daily allowance of vitamin C and more potassium than a banana.

Ingredients:
1 cup water
1 scoop Strawberry Shakeology
1 medium kiwi fruit, peeled, cut into chunks
1 cup ice

Preparation:
1. Place water, Shakeology, kiwi, and ice in blender; cover. Blend until smooth.

Baked Paleo Sweet Potatoes

I love sweet potatoes, and this side dish has become a regular in our household. This baked sweet potatoes recipe is so easy to make, which is reason #2 why I love it so much! 
AND, it's 21 Day Fix approved, so if you are doing the 21 Day Fix or 21 Day Fix Extreme programs, you're golden!

Ingredients:

Sweet potatoes 
2 tsp olive oil
2 tsp of raw honey
Salt and pepper to taste
Sprinkle of cayenne pepper (optional)

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees
2. Wash and chop sweet potatoes into cubes
3. Combine oil, honey, & spices in a bowl, then add in potatoes, stirring until potatoes are evenly coated.
4. Spread sweet potatoes evenly in one layer on cookies sheet sprayed with cooking spray.
5. Bake for 35 minutes or until tender, stir occasionally while baking.

My Reason


Before becoming a mother, my reasons for keeping my health and fitness a priority were basically all about me; about how I felt, looked, and just for my overall health. I've been a runner for the past 16 years, and training for races gives me a high like no other. Committing to something like training for a full or half marathon not only gives me strength and confidence, but it makes me feel like an achiever, a goal-getter, and not to mention gives me a few bragging rights! (Ever ran the hills in San Francisco Marathon course? Brutal!) Eating healthy has been a part of my lifestyle since I woke up and saw the photos of me sporting my freshman 15 bod...and I never looked back!

Now that I'm a mother and have my family to take care of, my reasons have shifted. All the ones mentioned above still hold true of course, but now I have EVEN MORE reasons to be healthy, strong, and to be my best every day. I'm raising our daughter to also be healthy and fit, and to take care of herself and honor her body as I do mine. My child is very spirited and has a never-ending supply of energy, so I don't have a choice but to be on my toes all day, every day. Because of that alone, I need to make sure I take care of myself by getting enough rest (still working on that one), eating nutrient-dense foods, and exercising so my body is strong. I want to show my daughter the importance of taking care of our bodies, our vessels. 

I can't even begin to explain the happiness and sense of fulfillment it brings me when my 2.5 year old toddler tells me she wants to go for a run, or wants to do exercises with mommy, or is "so busy working, mommy." She is already a hard-working and driven individual at her tiny little age, and I have to take some, if not most, credit for that. Being able to create a fitness-based business working from home has been the biggest blessing for me. I truly wish I had found the opportunity sooner, but life just seems to work its ways with timing. I thought about getting my personal trainer certification, or go back and get another degree in kinesiology or related field, but when I found the coaching opportunity with Beachbody, I had to see what it was all about. I didn't have to be at my goal weight, or be a professional in the fitness industry. I just had to have the drive to focus on my own health and fitness and have the passion to help others with theirs. It aligned with my values and my passion for helping others. I was sold.

I know that this is just the beginning for me on this journey and I'm so excited to show my daughter even more as she grows older. It's such an enormous responsibility to raise another human being and to show her what being healthy and active and an ambitious woman looks like, and of course I want her to be nothing less than everything she wants to be. My reason now is her.
